Ngunit kahit nasa ibang bansa man sila, they always make sure na ramdam ng kanilang mga pamilya sa Pinas ang init ng kanilang pagmamahal by giving them nothing but the best. And just like them, ito din naman ang hangarin ng BeamAndGo to help them provide their family’s everyday needs through our digital gift certificates na magagamit nila upang makabili ng groceries, medicines, health and wellness kit, at marami pang iba!

We ensure that the control of your pera-padala is in your hands now!

BeamAndGo_SRS_Busy Counter

Why San Roque Supermarket is your one-stop shop?

Dumaguete City is one of the most well-known provinces in Negros Oriental. With its gentle people, placid environment, tasty delicacies, and its power to attract considerable number of foreign tourists, talagang masasabi natin na Dumaguete is the place to be.

Siliman University_BeamAndGo

Silliman University has produced many successful OFWs! BeamAndGo.com toured the campus and was amazed seeing how they kept their traditions intact!

Basta’t nursing, it’s most likely Silliman! Mapa OFW or lawyer, we at www.

Kahit milya milya ang iyong distansya mula sa iyong pamilya, pwede mo parin silang maipag-shopping through our digital gift certificates.

WE WERE WELCOMED BY THE FRIENDLY STAFF! THEY WERE VERY ALERT AND PROACTIVE!

Lee Plaza Supermarket

You can’t survive without feeding your stomach everyday kaya naman hindi nakalimutan ng Lee Plaza na magtayo ng malawak na supermarket for our kababayans in Dumaguete and Dipolog. With a perfect range of fresh and affordable goods, clean surroundings, and approachable and friendly staff, we can’t deny the fact that Lee Plaza is offering a spectacular grocery shopping experience for every Filipino.

Shopping Advice: Bumili ng tingi tingi or sakto lamang kapag fruits, vegetables, and meat!  In bulk naman kapag hindi nabubulok katulad ng soap or toiletries!

Lee Plaza Department Store

With the wide array of complete and good quality products, talaga namang lahat ng kailangan mo ay nandito.

BeamAndGo_Lee Plaza_school supplies

Lalo na kapag back to school season. Checkout their prizes, tiyak na makakatipid kayo!

Lee plaza department store has wide space for school supplies like backpacks, notebooks, school shoes and uniforms, and many more!

OFW Shopping Advice: Why Batangueños love this supermarket and department store!

Batangas is one of the lovely and peaceful provinces in Luzon, kaya naman hindi na nakakapagtaka kung bakit maraming turista ang  bumibisita rito.

beamandgo_citimart-healthy-vegetables

Citimart offers the freshest produce straight from the farm!

With their seven branches existing now, walang duda na incomparable ito sa pagbibigay ng excellent customer service all over the city.

Citimart Supermarket

beamandgo_citimart_supermarket

Don’t forget to bring a shopping list! Do not buy  on impulse!

Gatas, biskwit, orange juice, at tinapay. Bawas bawasan ang mga junk food!

Citimart Department Store

shopping, good choice ang CitiMart Department store.

Thru BeamAndGo’s digital gift certificate, you can treat them as many as you want.

Ang masayang training with Citimart and BeamAndGo:

Celebrations that make OFWs miss home!

Davao is home to a lot of our hard-working kababayans. Aside from being hard-working, kilala ang mga Davaoeño at Davaoeña sa pagiging malinis, disiplinado, masayahin, at festive. From family gatherings, such as birthdays and weddings, to community gatherings like fiestas, celebrations in Davao are definitely something to look forward to. Kaya nga hindi natin masisisi ang ating mga kababayang OFW for missing their hometown while abroad.

Screen Shot 2017-01-19 at 9.09.41 PM.png

Sa linggong ito, the people of Davao celebrate their foundation as a city. From March 10 to 16, kaliwa’t kanan ang kantahan, sayawan, cultural performances at competitions.

Kadayawan Festival

Screen Shot 2017-01-19 at 9.15.13 PM.png

It’s one of the most popular festivals in the region and in the Philippines.

Every third week of August, Davao celebrates its abundance of culture, harvest, life, and oneness of the people. Dancer groups from all over Mindanao come to showcase their culture through music and dance. Another highlight of the festival is the pageant, Hiyas ng Kadayawan. This is where the smart and beautiful young women of Davao compete to become the representative of Davao’s colorful culture and tradition.

Like Araw ng Dabaw, Kadayawan also ends with a parade. Pamulak Kadayawan is a parade of flowers and fruits by communities, organizations, and businesses. The flowers and fruits symbolizes the abundance of bounty in Davao.

Screen Shot 2017-01-19 at 9.16.40 PM.png

The parties and festivities don’t just stay on the streets. Different establishments, like GMall, participate during these festivals by having sales and bazaars.

Related: Balik-Pilipinas 2: Kain Tayo Dito!

Aside from these festivals, the different communities in Davao and its neighboring provinces celebrate their heritage during different fiestas. This is why a lot of festivals celebrate bounty and agriculture: Palay Festival, Banana Festival, Durian Festival, etc. But one thing Davaoeños and Filipinos are most thankful for is being with loved ones to celebrate life.

Mag-Noche Buena kasama ang pamilya even while you’re abroad

When you live far away from your loved ones, any form of communication is vital. Bilang mga OFW, we consider technology as our best friend. Ito kasi ang gamit natin to keep in touch with our loved ones sa ‘Pinas! Gamit na gamit natin ito, especially during the moments we can’t make it back home.

Mag-chat

If there is no need to make a call, sending a text or chat is the most convenient way to relay your message to your friends and family. Basta may wifi or data connection ka, makakausap mo sila.

They use social media to keep in touch and maintain constant communication.

wechat-phoneAside from social media, there are a ton of messaging apps you can choose from.

Kung wala pa, you can send a Kata i3L using BeamAndGo as a gift to your loved one this Christmas! Perfect ito to for chatting and mobile browsing. With a 16 GB Storage + 1 GB RAM, you can download your favorite social media and chat apps and see them on the 5-inch IPS super HD display. Most messaging apps already have a voice call feature. Kahit nasaan ka man sa mundo, pwede kang tumawag. Convenient diba?

Just visit your network’s website or call their hotline to inquire about their different promos.

Send eLoad using BeamAndGo!

Mag-Video Call

Ang pag-video call na marahil ang pinaka-magandang paraan to keep in touch. 10 years ago, naririnig lang natin ang mga kausap natin using our phones.

Ngayong Pasko, send a Kata T mini 3 to your family!

Kung computer o laptop ang gamit mo, you just have to open the website of your chosen video calling app using your browser, register, and make the call! Ang dali lang! Skype and Google Hangouts are known for their reliability. Facebook, on the other hand, is an all around platform. Besides being a social media platform, magagamit mo ito sa pag-chat at pagtawag. With just a few clicks, makikita mo na ang ngiti ng iyong pamilya habang sinasabi nila na miss ka na nila.

Ano man ang gamitin mo to stay connected with your loved ones, ang importante ay nadadalian kayo sa paggamit nito. These advancements in technology make it easier and cheaper keep in touch.

A lovely family picture of Gina and her children

By sending Supermarket GCs to your family in the Philippines, mas madadalian ang pamilya mo sa pag-budget ng mga gastusin.

Sa BeamAndGo, we have a 24-hour promise: your family will receive the gift certificates in 24 hours or less. Sign up na para makapagpadala ka na!

In a change of events, Gina sent Supermarket GCs for Super 8 instead of GMall to her daughter, Arisa. To make sure na makakarating sa kanyang anak ang kanyang ipinadala, Gina contacted Angela, our customer service representative.

Kaya naman Angela is more than happy to help Arisa in her grocery shopping sa Super 8.

Super 8 branches are located in Metro Manila, Cavite, Antipolo and Northern Luzon. For the full list of branches, click here.

More than 30 years na pala ang kanyang ina abroad. She has been working more than 2 jobs, para masuportahan niya ang kanyang pamilya dito. Si Gina lang rin ang nagpapaaral sa kanyang anak and Arisa has always been thankful.

Arisa, her brother and her tita – regular recipients of Gina’s gift certificates

Hindi man daw vocal si Arisa pagsabing mahal niya ang kanyang mama, she always makes sure she shows this in all other ways. She does this by being studious as a Tourism Major at Holy Angel University, Angeles, Pampanga. Pangarap niyang makapagtapos, makakuha ng magandang trabaho, at makapag-ipon ng malaki. She wants to be successful para makatulong sa kanyang mama at magkasama na sila.

More than making it easier for Gina and Arisa to budget and to save on remittance costs, gusto naming mapanatiling close ang bawat pamilya ng ating mga kababayang OFW.

We’re always ready to help you in any way we can! Just send us an email at customerservice@beamandgo.com, our customer service representatives here will gladly assist you.

Old habits die hard,” sabi nga nila, especially when these habits are a part of our everyday lives. Maraming pagkakaiba ang Singapore from our motherland, the Philippines. It’s no simple to task to adapt to a completely new environment. We’ve listed 7 attitudes that you need to adapt to when traveling to Singapore:

1. Be ready to walk, walk, walk.

Their sidewalks are full of people heading to the nearest MRT station, malls, or establishments.

2. Follow the rules.

Follow the rulesThis might seem obvious, but sadly, hindi natin sinusunod ang mga simpleng batas when it’s inconvenient for us. Kaya nga sa Pilipinas, napapansin natin na people skip lines, cut each other off in traffic, or bribe certain government officials. But this is not the case in Singapore. May kasabihan silang, “Singapore is a very fine city,” emphasis on fine. Indeed, Singapore is very strict with its rules and regulations, and even one misstep or mistake can set you back a couple thousand SGD in the form of fines. Kaya naman, whether we are abroad or not, we should always follow the rules and keep our impulses in check.

3. Respect Your Surroundings.

Respect your surroundingsSingapore prides itself as being a very clean city. Whatever you do, don’t just throw or leave your trash wherever, because not only does this earn you a heavy fine, it will also offend the people around you and cause you to be the object of not one too many glares and whispers. Meron pa nga silang CCTV cameras sa ibang public restrooms to check if you flushed the toilet or not!

4. Observe proper etiquette in public places

Check your mannersTulad ng pagbibigay nila ng importance sa kanilang environment, the good people of Singapore are also particular with how they treat each other. Things like not hogging the sidewalk, not blocking the escalator by staying to the right side, letting train passengers alight before boarding, giving your seat away to the disabled, pregnant, and elderly are just a few of the basic manners na kailangang i-practice sa Singapore.

5. No Filipino Time

Being on timeNaku! Do yourself a favor and start timing yourself right, because time really is gold! Everything and everyone in Singapore moves like a precisely timed machine; nothing and nobody will wait for you if you are late! Being late will just damage your reputation, your character, and your mindset.

Para makatulong sa pag-manage ng inyong oras, BeamAndGo is here to help! Send your family supermarket GCs and other care packages with just a few clicks!

6. Change How You Communicate

Of course, it’s important to be polite, but not to the point that you can be pushed around. Importante ang pagiging confident sa pananalita. Assert yourself and show that you’re someone to be respected.

7. Be Self-Sufficient

Be self-sufficientWhether you are an OFW working and living there o turista na namamasyal, importante ang pagiging independent.

See the list of our partner merchants here!

Kassy, a Speech Communication graduate from UP Diliman, with her Mommy Ailen during her University Graduation last June 26, 2016.

From Dubai with Love: OFW Moms deserve only the best!

We all know it’s difficult growing up far from our parents, especially our mom. Our moms are one of the most influential and important people in our lives. Whenever we need someone to give us advice, someone to understand our shortcomings, someone to support our undertakings, or just someone to be with when life gets a little rough, it’s our moms we go to.

We spoke with Kassy, a recent graduate of the University of the Philippines Diliman, who majored in BA Speech Communication. She grew up away from her mom since she was 13 years old. She admits it was difficult having a long-distance relationship with Mommy Ailen, but it was never a hindrance for them to constantly stay in touch. Even if mommy is away, she never forgets even the little things, like the basic needs of her family. Just like any other parent, Mommy Ailen makes sure that her family has their basic needs. To make this part of parenthood a lot easier and better, BeamAndGo is here to help!

Kassy tells us that just like most OFWs, her mom decided to work abroad to improve their family’s financial stability. From being a housewife, her mom flew to Dubai, not knowing what job she would get into. She just took her shot. After just 5 days, her mom found a job as a secretary. After a year, she found her current job as an HR employee. She has been happily working for the same company after 10 years. Kassy says her mom is career-oriented. This motivates her to become successful in her future career too as a Speech Communication graduate.

Communication is Key!

Kassy considers herself very close to her mom. Early on, they have always been regularly speaking — talking about the little things, like how their days go, to major life decisions. Thanks to Facebook, they can now talk to each other everyday! Kassy’s mom has been very hands-on in taking part in her life. She makes sure that she’s always here for special occasions and major celebrations. Whenever she’s in the Philippines, they make the most out of their bonding time as a family.

13874954_10207989155501104_103121876_nKassy has three other siblings. Kat, 27, who works as a ground crew, Kyle, 26, a customer service agent and Kris, 18, who is still in school. All four siblings look out for each out other especially when their mom is not here. They’ve learned to count on each other and have formed a solid support group. Whenever Mommy Ailen goes home to Manila, they all go out together. On most days, they communicate through their Facebook chat group.

Like other children with OFW parents, Kassy imagines what it would be like if her mom just stays for good. Of course, she prefers to be with her mom more often. And although it’s difficult, she understands that the decision for her mom to work abroad is the more practical option.

To our OFW parents: You deserve only the best!

Bittersweet — this is how Kassy would describe how it is growing up with an OFW mom. Mommy Ailen’s sacrifice to not be with Kassy as she grows up is no joke. Open communication and understanding really is key to staying close with your family, whether together or away from each other.

What’s your family story? We’d love to hear from you as well!

Let’s make a plan!

Monthly-Budget-Check-up

Magkano nga ba talaga?

Ngayon, gawa tayo ng plano. Dapat ba ang shopping every week, every two weeks, o every month?

Take note ha: Wag maging hero. Hindi ka si Santa Claus. Kung ano lang ang kailangan. May panahon para sa party. Everyday needs lang muna. O may rough estimate ka na?

Ready na? Let’s go to BeamAndGo!

Opinion: The middle class OFWs and the cost of higher income

It was the year 2010.

Having been voted by more than 15 M Filipinos, President Noynoy Aquino delivered his first State of the Nation Address (SONA). His electrifying speech against corruption and the culture of “Wang-wang” or special treatment to VIPs was a hit in local press and the business sector.

Noynoy Aquino

A photo of President Noynoy Aquino. Credited for fixing the fiscal policy, reducing foreign debt, and tightening of spending. During his term, income taxes were unchanged. Good or bad for middle class?

Back then, I was working in one of the largest Universal Banks in the Philippines and was drawing a moderate salary but it was not enough for me to be financially free.

Related: Did you know that as OFWs, you can send remit smarter to your families’ household needs from groceries to medicine?  Register now for free and let BeamAndGo help support your family needs

Like many middle class college degree holder employees, my dream was to own my own house and be financially independent. I asked myself the question,” How long would it take for me to accomplish my noble aspirations? 20 years?”

So in January 2011, I finally boarded the cheapest flight to Singapore after months of deliberation with my family.

I armed myself with the very small stash of savings from the past 4.5 years. That’s it! #Bahalanasibatman ika nga but I was confident with my qualifications. So I bid goodbye to my parents, lola, and friends. It was painful, hard, and dramatic. A month after, I landed my first job to oversee the marketing and fundraising programs of a Singaporean NGO. I drew a salary more than 5 times my take home pay in the Philippines.

There were many things I learned while working overseas from cooking, washing of clothes, moving flats, and even dealing with abusive landlords (that’s a different story). But the most important is sending cash remittances back home and its enormous repercussions if not planned wisely. I could just imagine how much more I’d saved and invested if BeamAndGo was already available with its digital gift certificates on supermarkets, medicine, and other basic needs. If you don’t have an idea how it works, just watch this video below:

From my own personal experience and from the testimonies of dozens of OFWs whom I’ve personally met, many of us choose to work overseas because of better employment opportunities and lower taxes.

I will emphasize this because I want our next President to focus on the immediate welfare of middle class Filipinos. You can be assured, just like the millions of Filipinos who left their families, I will be watching your first State of the Nation Address! All of you promised to reduce taxes.  I will be taking down notes and I will hold you accountable. We are not endorsing any candidate but what we want is for the President to walk the talk, make the biggest sacrifices, and lead by example.  Don’t we all deserve this?

While OFW remittances has been widely acknowledged as the driver of the Philippine Economy (USD 29.7 Billion in 2015), the high costs of absentee parents, loneliness, and risks to life on both physical and mental are enormous. That subject cannot be brushed aside because their are serious concerns. Just read the story of a domestic helper who took her life a few days ago here.

We invite our fellow OFWs to become a member of the Beamer family. It’s a community for OFWs where we freely share stories and provide advice on a range of topics from saving, budgeting, and money allocation, to healthy nutrition.

Not long ago, my blood pressure went up to 160 / 100 in Singapore, when I gorged on chicken rice almost everyday. That was before I noticed that all of my Singaporean friends were eating vegetables and fish soup. Did you know that the mortality age in the  Philippines is 68.5 years as opposed to Singapore at 84.5 years? Stop the chicken rice,  friends!  If you want to learn practical tips on how to live longer, sign up at BeamAndGo now.

Laoagposter

I was in Laoag, Ilocos Norte last Saturday delivering a workshop with Vanessa Cartera, our director of sales, to retired OFWs on the keys to claiming victory in both health and finances. One of the highlights was the subject on 8 dimensions of Wellness. I will discuss more on our findings and also learnings from the participants in my next blog. We will give you tips from Dr. Raymond Escalona, a lifestyle nutrition specialist, on how you can reduce the risk of cancer and live a healthy lifestyle. We thank the Laoag City LGU and its Community Affairs Division for inviting their OFW associations to attend.

But right now, since we only have less than 30 days before we elect a new Chief Executive, let’s  watch the debates attentively and cast our vote according to our conscience, wisdom, and knowledge on what is best for our country. There are more issues from poverty alleviation, crime, drugs, women’s rights, contractualization, and K-12.

We have less than 30 days before we elect a new President. Let’s move away from personality politics and focus on knowing how our presidential candidates will solve our nation’s issues.

I believe it’s time to lower income taxes. There are 1.3 M of us OFWs that can cast a vote and make a difference. We will never forget all the days when we thought about quitting, when we reluctantly left our families, and when we almost lost hope in life. But we can always choose to change the game. We may find the ideal president who can walk the talk.

If you are an OFW and you like what you read, join the Beamer Support Community now. We’re now helping 80,000 Filipinos and you could easily be one of them. Together, let’s cast our votes and be heard by our government.
